Prevent misuse of herbicides in Australia
2012-1-20

Primary Industry Department in Australia received some news about the herbicides abuse. For example, paraquat and glyphosate-containing were used for desiccant, salvage agent, harvest auxiliary agent, or used as topping agent in some cereal crops. The department subsequently issued warnings, and reminded farmers not to abuse pesticides during harvest. The application dosage of herbicides should be according to label which should be in the application range of registration. If dosage range is exceeded by recommended one, herbicides will cause quality problem. Maybe it will lead to germinate earlier, or unnecessary residual, thus affects the market sales.

Supervised authorities will increase the punishment for pesticides misuse. Violators will be prosecuted or be sale limited. Farmers, pesticide dealers, technicians and consulting workers also have the obligations to ensure that the usage advices provided should meet all these requirements.

MAI eventually won the Patent Infringement case of Fipronil
2012-1-20

Termidor (A.I. :Fipronil) is BASF’s patent product, which is the bestselling termite insecticide in America and covers a quarter of the whole American market. But one of Termidor’s three patents was lapsed in 2010, so Makhteshim-Agan prepared to sell its Fipronil products in Aug., 2010.

In April, 2010, BASF and Bayer filed the Patent Infringement case to American court and sued MAI for Patent infringement of Termidor (Fipronil). BASF thought that MAI infringed their patent, because MAI sold Fipronil’s products.

In June, 2011, MAI’s subsidiary company CSI introduced two Fipronil’s products to American market: one was TaurusTM, it mainly used for preventing and controlling pests; The other is PrefurredTM, it only used for controlling insects of pet.

In January, 2012, MAI was glad to announce that MAI gained American court’s support and won the Patent Infringement case of Fipronil. And American court found that Fipronil’s products from MAI and CSI companies did not infringe any BASF’s existing patens.(American Patent No.:6414010 and 6825743)
