Australia prohibits Diuron’s most usage and suspends Diuron’s registration

At July,2011, APVMA suggested to prohibit Diuron’s most usage after long-term investigate. APVMA required all Diuron’s manufacturer to provide evidence against the prohibition and APVMA would make final decision after investigate.

As early as 2005, APVMA has suggested to revoke Diuron’s usage permission in irrigation channels and drainage channels, and suggested to reduce risks of applications in crop and non-crop. And APVMA needed to make more serious investigation on the data provided by manufacturers.

The latest Environment risk assessment found that the dosage of Diuron will introduce unacceptable risk into aquatic ecosystems. APVMA pointed that Diuron is highly poisonous to algae and aquatic plant. And it would remain longer in crops, sediments and water body as residue. But it did not have enough data pointed to if residual Diuorn in sediments would introduce risk into sea grass.

APVMA suggested to suspend Diuron’s all usage except in antifouling paint and algae control. Two-Thirds of the registed more than100 kinds products of Diuron would be affected. APVMA also suggested Diuron still can be used in buffer zone as cotton disleave agent.

At Oct., 2011, APVMA suspended all registrations of Diuron, and released related user instructions on mid-November. APVMA thought they need more time to finish the assessment on Diuron.

Brazil Pesticide Market keeps Benign Growth

According to the statistical result from Sindag, in September, pesticide market in Brazil increased 13%. Gross revenue is up to 2.223 billion reais. Acaricides and insecticides bring benefits to this sale growth which is up to 19.4%. Acaricides performance from 20 million reais rises to 29 million reais.

The previous nine months of this year, sales amount is 8.189 billion reais, 8% more than last year the corresponding period. The performance of the growth came mainly from including cotton, coffee, corn, pasture, soybeans and sugar cane. Pesticides in cotton, coffee, orange and larger mostly and sugar cane industry sales gain rose across the board. Fungicides used in wheat and in kidney bean, and herbicides in scale of kidney bean crops and widely used. But the wheat and rice herbicide sales declined slightly.

Benthiavalicarb-isopropyl, Boscalid, Cyflufenamid, Dimoxystrobin. Orysastrobin, Ethaboxam, Fluoxastrobin, Penthiopyrad, Proquinazid, Prothioconazole, Pyraclostrobin, Silthiofam, Simeconaz, Zoxamideole.

Insecticides:

Bifenazate, Bistrifluron, Chromafenozide, Flutenzine, Dinotefuran, Etoxazole, Flonicamid, Indoxacarb, Metaflumizone, Methoxyfenozide, Pyridalyl, Spirodiclofen, Spiromesifen, Spirotetramat, Thiamethoxam.

Some of them may be in spurt of development period in China. \
