Power Rationing Measures Keeps Affecting Industrial Production Capacity
2010-9-20

Since early of August, most part of China is undergoing power rationing measure due to electricity demand hitting all-time highs in the summer day. Power shortages aren’t uncommon in China, where demand keeps outstripping supply. The residents keep using air-conditioning to escape the summer heat, and this has caused serious power shortage.

Meanwhile, many factories have stopped their production or cut down their production capacity, and it caused serious delay and unstable supply for overseas demand. Most of steel mills in China reduced the production capacity by the impact on power rationing since end of August.

Eventhough the warnings came out just as overall economy shows signs of slowing down, the rules are unable to change. The economic growth slowed to 10.3% in the second quarter from a year earlier, down from 11.9% in the first quarter after tightening measures by the government, the ongoing power rationing measures affecting the domestic export industry is believed to continue until the end of the year.

2010-8-31

August 23, 2010, according to the news from NEWSINFERNO site ,U.S. Environmental Protection Agency EPA has issued the final prohibition to aldicarb. EPA had an agreement with the aldicarb manufacturer Bayer CropScience that clean this toxic pesticides out of the market step by step.

Aldicarb is often used for cotton, peanuts, potatoes and other crops. The date of the first registration of it was 1970.

It is reported that aldicarb has also been found in grapefruit, oranges, orange juice, potatoes and frozen French fries. It has been banned from use in banana as it has a high potential risk to children.

According to the latest toxicity data submitted by ETA, aldicarb does not meet their strict safety standard for food and diet and it may have an unforecasted risk, especially to infant. Aldicarb residues in the body of baby maybe 800% higher than the healthy level concerned by EPA and the children in 1 to 5years old are 300% higher.

In order to ensure the safty supply of food, Bayer CropScience will weed out aldicarb, all of remaining should be stopped to use after August 2018.
