Brazil Plans To Introduce New Pesticide Laws & Regulations
2011-2-23

Human Toxicity Department in Brazil plans to put out new laws and regulations for pesticide registration. ANVISA has planned to put out the mandatory requirement that all agricultural registration applicants should do the harm evaluation on the practitioners. Moreover, ANVISA suggests that all the relevant toxicity studies on pesticides should be finished by GLP lab.

ANVISA thinks that this policy can reduce the potential harm which may result from the pesticides on the link of registration. Although current policy needs the toxicity studies on the pesticides, further harm evaluation can reduce the harm to the close contacts. And all the toxicity evaluations which should be finished by GLP lab can guarantee the credibility and traceability of the research results.

The public review period of this suggestion is 60 days. If the proposal is approved, the review standards of pesticide both formulation and technical in Brazil will be advanced to the international standards. For ANVISA, that is also the achievement of revising the review system during these two years.
