Argentine Imported Agrochemicals Increased By 71%

According to Argentine media, in 2010, the marketshare of imported agrochemical including pesticides and fertilizers have increased by 71 percent, up to 1.574 billion dollar. One of the top increase is fertilizer, the amount of increase is 100 percent. The main reason is the food prices continue to rise which has played a role in promoting the farmers' enthusiasm, so that the agrochemicals' usage has increased by 28.8 percent.

In importing the agrochemicals, China is the biggest origin, about 45.8 percent of all Argentina imports. The second is USA which make up about 20.2 percent. The third is Russia. Also the quantity of importing is increasing, but the output is falling to two hundred and sixty million, one of the top falling is fertilizer and Glyphosate, the falls are 40 percent and 11.1 percent.

Update in Annex I for EU registration

Regarding to the EU registration Annex I, there is an update as below. 

Azoxystrobin is requested another purity limit, toluene is required 2g /kg max bases on no similar requirements before. Besides, compare with former requirements of protection of aquatic organism, it has to be make sure to meet the standards in the week link of EU aquatic organism protection.

Imazalil is asked to summit the safety estimation for operator, the risk for aquatic organism, soil microorganism, birds and mammal. What’s more in the future, date of decomposing in soil and surface water and so on.

Azimsulfuron is requested another purity limit, phenol is required 2g /kg max. And pollution of ground water is taken into account.

All the update was required more date from the proposer to make sure the products on the list to be approved more safe and stable. In EU registration, no matter how complicated the regulations are, the trend is still more and more strict for protecting human, environments and crop. All the vendors in China should learn the regulations completely, and know well the products in management, then to be a qualified and responsible supplier effective and permanent.

Brazilian Pesticide Compliance Rate Reached 90%

The Brazilian Department of Agriculture inspected the pesticides on the market. The result showed that the compliance rate is 90%. This time 650 kinds of products have been tested and found 74 kinds of products belong to violative products. The pass rate is 88.6%.

The director of the coordination of the Brazilian Department of Agriculture says that most of violative products belong to packing violation or violation of containing unregistered chemicals and many qualified products are qualified all year round. 134 products been tested and find only one product’s active ingredient is higher than it’s registered content. 15 products' registration were cancelled due to inconsistency of the data provided to the department of Agriculture.

It is found that the most serious violations is in state of Parana, 181.2 T products were violative products.The second place is State of  Sao. Paulo, 142.1 T violative products found. Then is the state of Rio Grande do Sul, 52.8 T violative products found. In the Four states of Mato Grosso do Sui, Rio do Janeiro, Ceara and Distrito Federal, violative products has not found. At the same time, the state of Sao Paulo has most manufacturers in Brazil, 71 manufacturers. The State of Parana has 10 manufacturers, the State of  Rio Grande do Sul has 4 manufactuers.
