Chinese Pesticide Substantial Sales Increase in Australia
2009-12-25

In recent years, along with the pesticide management and registration policy become more specific, a number of cross-border joint ventures established by Chinese enterprises have been settled in Australia. Thereafter more then 50 companies are licensed to export pesticide from china and have received a warm welcome at Australian market.

Australia consumes a huge amount of pesticide every year as a result of its limited precipitation and lean soil. It owns 15 million ha. wheat, 4 million ha. barley, 1 million ha. cole, 500 thousand ha. sorghum, 200 thousand ha. cotton, as well as broad grasslands, all those give rise to their 1 million US dollars annual sales in pesticide market. In recent years, the global buyers from Australia also witnessed continuous quality improvement with Chinese original technical products, which already met WHO and WFP standard, thus an influx of Chinese made pesticide onto the local market, like glyphosate, paraquat and Glufosinate Ammonium as non-selective herbicide. Gibberellin acid is also warmly welcomed because of its good performance in controlling apple rust diseases and increasing pear’s fruit set.

What worth mentioning are the demand of Brassinolide, a PGR mainly apply on forage to speed up root striking, as well as Tebuconazole, propiconazol and Endosulfan are selling well and very favored local farmers. ?

As well known, not only Australia, but also New Zealand who frequently import through Australia, greatly rely on pesticide importation to compensate their undeveloped agrochemical industry. A distinct opportunity and platform is now presenting to qualified Chinese manufacturers and exporters.
