Pyrethroid Pesticides Under Short Supply
2011-4-27

Lambda-cyhalothrin and beta-cypermethrin are general products in agriculture and pastoral farming and have huge demands compared with the other pyrethroid pesticides. In the near future, price of both products are increasing as there is shortage of raw materials. At present, lambda-cyhalothrin is quoted as RMB190 000 per ton, which increases RMB10 000 per ton at the same period last year. Beta-cypermethrin is quoted as RMB40 500 which increases RMB2500 per ton in last year. Even so, there’s not enough supply.

There are two main factors of shortage for lambda-cyhalothrin and beta-cypermthrin. Firstly, the manufactures are not able to get the raw materialls---3-Phenoxybenzaldehyde and CMAC. Both made in china or imported are in short supply as the crude oil and daily health products price mark-up after Japan earthquake. 3-Phenoxybenzaldehyde price is quoted as RMB83 000 per ton, increased by RMB20 000 - 30 000, CMAC is quoted as RMB83 000 per ton increased by RMB20 000. Though price of lamdba-cyhalothrin and beta-cypermethrin are increasing, the manufacturers still have no profits and stoped the production. Secondly, pyrethorid pesticides have been in demand depression period since second half of last year. Many manufactures reduced output or stopped production because of high price of raw materials, intermediates and environment factors. The gross production in whole China is in big drop.
